36 Week Pregnancy Update | Baby #3

18 Weeks
Last week I turned 36 weeks! Technically as I write this I'm 37 weeks, so baby is considered early term! In other words, it would be just fine if I went into labor today. :)

Here's my 36 week pregnancy update:

Weight this week: 136.6 pounds - up almost 6 pounds from 32 weeks! I'm not sure why my weight gain has increased so much lately...

I actually forgot to take my measurements last week, so these are my 37 week measurements:

Measurement around waist: 31 1/2"

Measurement around belly: 37 1/2"-3/4" - almost exactly the same as my last two pregnancies!

How big is baby? Baby weighs about 6 pounds, and is 18 1/2" long. My midwife estimated that the baby is about 5-5 1/2 pounds, and long. It definitely feels long to me! 😅

Maternity Clothes: Nothing new - it's getting so close that any new clothes would only fit me for a few weeks anyway.

Movement: Still so much kicking! It feels really not nice sometimes when the baby kicks me in the ribs. Kind of makes me lose my breath for a second! And when it kicks me in the bladder...oh man! Not fun.

One night Reuben and I just sat and watched the baby kicking...you could see its little heel kicking my side!

Cravings: Nothing major...carbs have been a staple craving with this pregnancy it seems.

Aversions: Nothing that I can think of!

Aches/Pains: The pain in my hips is pretty bad sometimes. It's weird because some days it's hardly noticeable, and others it hurts a lot.

Another fun thing that has developed is itchy arms and legs. I kind of think this doesn't have anything to do with pregnancy, just living in northern MN during the dead of winter. But it gets really bad sometimes - almost as bad as having poison ivy!

On Saturday night, I started to notice some swelling in my hands and feet. My boots were pretty snug when I put them on! And I decided to take off my wedding ring juuuust in case it got stuck. I've never had swelling during pregnancy before. Grrrr... 😕

The Braxton Hicks contractions are also becoming stronger and more painful.

Sleep: An uninterrupted night's sleep seems to be a thing of the past. Insomnia seems to come and go...sometimes I'll wake up at 4:30 and won't be able to get back to sleep for an hour, and other nights I can drift off again fairly quickly. It's frustrating, but I guess it gives me a taste of what life with a newborn will be like.

Fitness: My goal for January was to work out 3x a week, and I didn't miss a day!

Midwife Visit: My midwife came for a checkup when I was 36 weeks.

I can't remember what I was measuring. 😅

Since I have been spilling ketones in my urine for most of my pregnancy, I decided to do an experiment: I ate higher carb than usual, and I ate quite a bit and had a snack in the afternoon. Sure enough, I only had a trace of ketones. And I was only 1 off on my water. Woohoo!

My blood pressure was low, as usual.

Also to note: I feel like I've been nesting lately. Organizing and keeping the house tidy makes me really happy these days.

And that's my 36 week pregnancy update!

Compare it to my previous pregnancies:

I'm going to *try* to do a 38 week pregnancy update, unless this baby comes before then!

Here's my belly progression so far:

  1. I had a lot of swelling with my first pregnancy. So uncomfortable! It was so bad that I had pregnancy indiced carpel tunnel syndrome and my hands were numb. It went away after delivery thankfully. I'll be praying for a safe delivery!
