Fall Around the House

Since fall is my favorite time of the year, I thought it only fitting to bring some of those cozy, nostalgic vibes into the house. I'm not skilled at home decor by any means, but here are a few ways I've decorated our house for the season.

A basket lined with a checkered dish towel and filled with apples made the table pretty.

Reuben's mom gave us some of her home-grown popcorn to hang to let dry. I decided to hang mine with kitchen twine from an IKEA window bar that I previously used in an attempt to grown herbs. I had just enough hooks! I varied their height to add some visual interest.

I decided to give the piano a face lift with various squash and pumpkins that I acquired at the farmers market.

I also scattered some of our pressed leaves on the piano.

Lastly, I changed out the pictures above my computer desk. They were still my winter ones - I never got around to changing them for spring and summer! These were ones that I got for free from Shutterfly. Not the best quality, but they get the point across.

How about you? How do you like to decorate for fall?

  1. I love the popcorn corn idea! I like decorations that are both functional and pretty. I could see switching the corn out in the winter for other items... maybe paper snowflakes.

    1. YES - love functional decorations! I'm also planning on using the squash/pumpkins on my piano for baking. :) Great idea to switch out for winter-themed decorations...maybe I could do pine branches or large pine cones?
